Family-Centered Substance Abuse Treatment Planning Brief

Research confirms that when parents enter a residential substance abuse treatment program while living with their children, they complete the program in higher numbers and improve their capacity to care for their children. A variety of funding strategies, including those associated with Medicaid, Title IV-E, and Family First, can support this approach. But states need to know more about how to do this. With the help of Native Connections in Phoenix, state managers in Utah and Minnesota, financial consultants, and Casey staff, we have learned much about how to design and fund this approach.
